This is a replacement for my old Sony DVP-FX810. While the picture and sound quality is outstanding the unit design is very poor comparing to DVP-FX810. I own a lots of SONY equipment and noticed that starting about five, six years ago external design of their products became weird. Oh well, at least the quality is still good.
Bad:
1. No acrylic screen protection like on DVP-FX810. Why do I need it? One word - kids.
2. Touch buttons instead of push buttons (DVP-FX810) - hard to operate in a dim light. Slightest touch activates them and you have no idea what you are touching until you touch it. I am referring to operating in dark or poor lighting conditions.
3. Power ON/OFF. On DVP-FX810 it was push button type slider which allowed also to turn power on and off by remote control. On 930 it's a slide switch. Slide to ON position, slide to OFF position. You cannot turn the power on or off with remote any more.
Also the location of the switch (on the side) allows for accidental switching ON.
4. Shape (side view of the front of the player). It is difficult to open the screen even for me - there is nothing to grab on to. I was watching my six years old struggling to open the player.
Good:
1. Bigger screen with practically same outside dimensions.
2. The battery from the old player fits the new one. (I'm sure SONY missed that)
3. And that's about it..
